Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 — Arrival in Halifax, Nova Scotia

Welcome to Halifax! Transfer to your waterfront hotel. Evening orientation walk along the Halifax Boardwalk with views of the harbour. Welcome dinner featuring fresh Atlantic seafood.

Day 2 — Halifax City Exploration

Full-day guided tour of Halifax: Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, Peggy's Cove (iconic lighthouse), the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, and the Public Gardens. Afternoon at leisure in the vibrant downtown.

Day 3 — South Shore of Nova Scotia

Drive along Nova Scotia's breathtaking South Shore. Visit Lunenburg — a UNESCO World Heritage Site of extraordinary colonial architecture. Stop at Mahone Bay and the Ovens Natural Park sea caves.

Day 4 — Bay of Fundy & Annapolis Valley

Experience the world's highest tides at the Bay of Fundy. Walk on the ocean floor at low tide at Hopewell Rocks. Drive through the Annapolis Valley — known for its apple orchards, wineries, and historic Acadian heritage.

Day 5 — Ferry to Prince Edward Island

Scenic ferry crossing from Caribou, NS to Prince Edward Island. Arrival in Charlottetown — Canada's birthplace of Confederation. Afternoon tour of Province House and the charming Victorian downtown.

Day 6 — Prince Edward Island Highlights

Full day exploring PEI: the famous red sand beaches of PEI National Park, the Green Gables Heritage Site (inspiration for Anne of Green Gables), and a lobster fishing excursion with a local fisherman. Lobster dinner!

Day 7 — Confederation Bridge to New Brunswick

Cross the 12.9 km Confederation Bridge back to mainland Canada. Drive through New Brunswick to Moncton, visiting the Magnetic Hill (optical illusion) and Tidal Bore. Evening in Moncton's trendy Dieppe neighbourhood.

Day 8 — Cape Breton Island — Cabot Trail Begins

Drive north to Cape Breton Island and begin the legendary Cabot Trail — consistently ranked one of the world's top drives. Stop at the Englishtown ferry, Highland Village Museum, and the village of Baddeck. Evening ceilidh (traditional Cape Breton music).

Day 9 — Cape Breton Highlands National Park

Full day in Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Hike the spectacular Skyline Trail for panoramic views of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Watch for whales, bald eagles, and moose. Afternoon at the charming fishing village of Chéticamp.

Day 10 — Return to Halifax & Departure

Morning drive back along the stunning Cabot Trail coastline to Halifax. Farewell lunch with the group. Transfer to Halifax Stanfield International Airport for your departing flight. The Maritimes will stay with you forever.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Maritime Journey runs from June through October. The peak season is July–August for warm weather and vibrant festivals. September/October offers stunning fall foliage and fewer crowds. We do not operate this route in winter.

The tour is rated moderate. Most days include 2–4 km of walking on well-maintained paths. The Skyline Trail on Day 9 is a 7.5 km hike with some elevation. Participants should be reasonably fit and comfortable walking on uneven terrain.

Absolutely! Many of our guests travel solo. We can match you with a same-gender roommate at no extra cost. A single supplement is available if you prefer your own room.

All four Maritime provinces (Nova Scotia, PEI, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland) use the Canadian Dollar (CAD). Credit cards are widely accepted, though cash is useful in small fishing villages and at farmers' markets.
